From the Dashboard, tap Log a Shift. Pick the job (it defaults to the one you used last), enter your hours (start/end times or a plain number, whichever you used last for that job), cash tips, charge tips, and any service charges or auto-gratuities. The tip-out field is pre-filled from the job's default rule; tap it to see or change the split. Saving writes the shift to your iPhone immediately, before anything else happens.
Open a job under the Jobs tab and edit its Tip-Out Rule. Add a recipient for each person or role the tip-out goes to (bar, busser, host, or any name you choose), and set each one's own rule: a percentage of tips, a percentage of sales, a flat amount, or a manual figure. You can also override the rule for a single shift from the Log Shift screen without changing the job's default.
Open it from Shift History. It lists exactly the fields IRS Publication 531 tells a tipped employee to keep — cash tips, charge tips, noncash tip value and tips paid out, day by day, with service charges kept in their own column. ShiftSlip keeps records and does arithmetic on them; it is not tax advice.
From the Daily Tip Record or Settings, Export shares a CSV spreadsheet, a printable PDF, or both, for any date range, through the standard iOS share sheet. Export is free forever and behind no purchase — with no cloud sync in this version, it is also how you keep a copy of your own records.
Enter a figure in Settings to turn this on. Reports will then show your own hours, total pay and average hourly rate for the period against that figure. It shows only your own numbers and never names a state, cites a law, or makes a legal claim — it is meant only to flag a period that might be worth asking about.
The sample jobs and shifts ShiftSlip can load on first run are always badged Sample. Go to Settings → Remove Sample Data to delete them in one tap; your own entries are never touched by this.
Settings → Delete All Data permanently removes every job and shift on this iPhone after you type DELETE to confirm. This cannot be undone, so export a copy first if you want to keep one.
ShiftSlip is free, funded by a small banner on the Dashboard, Shift History, Reports and Jobs screens, and by at most one full-screen ad on the shift summary, and only after that shift is already saved. No ad ever appears while you are logging a shift, splitting a tip-out, reading the daily tip record, or exporting. Settings → Remove Ads turns every ad off permanently with a one-time purchase; Restore Purchases on the same screen recovers it after a reinstall or on a new device signed into the same Apple ID.
